Job Description

Swisslog Logistics Inc, provider of integrated logistics solutions (Warehouse Management Systems) is looking for a dedicated and innovative person to strengthen its Software Implementation team.

The Software Project Manager will have responsibility for the success of software product development and customizations, implementations, client management, and overall client satisfaction.

The Software Project Manager will manage a team of resources including: technical leads and/or managers, software developers, business analysts, and quality assurance analysts.

In this role Software Project Manager will have full responsibility over:
  • On time and on budget project delivery
  • Customer coordination over IT System infrastructure (network, hardware, licensing, system HA and redundancy, ...)
  • Leading SW team by fully owning project business requirements, being internal and external go to resource regarding business requirements
  • Leading customer meetings and reviews in all business aspects, including other project resources on as needed basis.
  • Creating, maintaining and updating Functional Specification from initial customer approval to creation of "as built" documentation.
  • Collaborating with project Technical Lead on technical requirements, other team resources task allocation, task tracking, monitoring and escalation of possible issues.

The Software Project manager will collaborate with SW Implementation department management reviewing project needs and allocating appropriate resources to the project.


B.S. or B.A. degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or an equivalent Engineering degree.

Required Skills:
  • 5+ years software development and implementation experience, from which at least 2+ years PM experience managing software development

Former experience as a developer:
  • Development experience does not have to be recent but must be able to read/communicate code/development issues, i.e. "talk shop" with internal and external technical resources and decision makers
  • General understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design with:
    • Java /J2EE or C#/.NET application development
    • Relational databases (Oracle or MSSQL, MySQL)
  • Understands Internet, Intranet, Extranet and client/server architectures
  • Prior experience managing box type software implementation(s)
  • Prior experience managing IT projects with hardware implementation, networking, virtual environments
  • Has managed a team of 6 or more
  • SDLC methodology practitioner
  • Competent with MS Project, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excellent customer management skills for administration, resolving issues and building customer relationships
  • External customer relationship management and facilitation skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective listening and problem solving skills
  • Ability to respond strongly and positively to challenging work and deadlines

Other Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, Business, or Communication
  • Prior experience with projects in production / manufacturing environments integrating Software applications with Automation systems and Controls
  • General data communications and network operating systems knowledge
  • Direct management experience including: hiring/firing, performance reviews, coaching/mentoring, etc.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial and organizational governance
  • Agile, Scrum Master
  • PMP/PMI certification
