Job Summary/Basic Function: Technician will conduct field and laboratory-based research concerning mosquito distribution in San Antonio, Texas under the supervision of Dr. Wide de Valdez. Technicians will be responsible for setting and maintaining mosquito traps, identifying mosquitoes in the field and in the lab, communicating with homeowners where traps are set, facilitating work of undergraduate reseachers data entry and analysis, and preparing and sending any samples for testing.
This is a grant funded, part-time, temporary position not to exceed 4 months.
Work Hours: Hours of work will vary; not to exceed 19 hours per week.

Necessary Qualifications: Senior-level standing as a biology major at an accredited university.
Preferred Qualifications: BS or BA in Biology from an accredited university.
Necessary Qualifications: Completed a course that involves disease vectors.
Preferred Qualifications: One semester of undergraduate research experience.

Use of a dissecting microscope; ability to identify organisms using dichotomous key; ability to pay attention to minute details; and use of excel and basic data analysis.
