RESEARCH SPECIALIST C
Duties: The Department of Cancer Biology is seeking an experienced molecular biologist with proven bench skills to provide technical support to projects involving advanced experiments in breast cancer research. The laboratory focuses on the roles of tumor suppressor genes, oncogenes, and other signaling pathways involved in tumor initiation, progression, dormancy, and metastasis. The approaches we take range from mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry to mouse genetics. The job will include a combination of independent and team driven projects. Special emphasis is placed on techniques such as cloning, virus packaging, qPCR, Western blot, protein purification, nucleic acid isolation/purification, and tissue culture. Experience in microscopy, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry, is highly desirable. This individual may also be expected to help train colleagues and to mentor more junior colleagues.
Qualifications: BA/BS degree in Molecular Biology or a related field with 3-5 years of research laboratory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Mastery of techniques such as tissue culture, cloning, virus packaging, qPCR, Western blot, protein purification, nucleic acid isolation/purification, and tissue culture are required. The candidate must also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized, and computer literate.
