Baycrest Health Sciences, a global leader in geriatric residential living, community care, research, innovation and education, with a special focus on brain health and aging, is looking to recruit the Vice-President, Research and Sandra Rotman Chair in Cognitive Neuroscience.
Located in Toronto, Canada and founded in 1918 as the Jewish Home for the Aged, Baycrest is an academic health sciences centre fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. Baycrest provides an exemplary care experience for aging clients and their families, combined with an extensive clinical training program for students and one of the world's top research institutes in cognitive neuroscience, the Rotman Research Institute (RRI).

The new Vice-President, Research will provide strategic leadership for the ongoing work in the RRI on cognitive aging, cognitive neuroscience and related areas, work to strengthen the links between RRI and Baycrest's clinical populations, and lead Baycrest in making an even greater impact in clinical and translational research, technological innovation and commercialization. In addition, this individual will provide strategic leadership for the activities of the new Canadian Centre for Aging and Brain Health Innovation (CC-ABHI). Launched in 2015 and led by Baycrest, CC-ABHI has committed funding of $123 million and is the national hub for premier seniors' care and health organizations dedicated to the development, validation, commercialization, dissemination and adoption of brain health and seniors' care products and services.
Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer of Baycrest, the Vice-President, Research and Sandra Rotman Chair in Cognitive Neuroscience will be a visionary and strategic leader with extensive knowledge and administrative experience in academic institutions, and medical/ research institutes. The Vice-President will ideally be an active researcher with an M.D. or equivalent degree and/or PhD ; be eligible to apply for an academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto; and have proven scholarly accomplishments and evidence of international recognition as a leader in aging and brain health.
The review of nominations and applications will begin in September 2016. This appointment is for a five-year renewable term, and will take effect in February 2017, or as soon thereafter as possible.
