Associate / Full Professor - Medical Microbiology

The Division of Microbiology in the Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children is inviting applications for a full-time academic Medical Microbiologist at the rank of Associate or full Professor. The anticipated start date will be September 1, 2017.
The Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine is internationally recognized as a centre of excellence in service, teaching, and clinically-oriented research in paediatric laboratory medicine.
Reporting to the Division Head, Medical Microbiology, the successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with 8 to 10 years of experience as a medical microbiologist. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated professional skills in diagnostic microbiology (including molecular microbiology), is able to work in team settings, and has excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, with experience in management. Experience in paediatric medical microbiology is an asset. The successful applicant will be expected to develop an independent and collaborative research program related to paediatric infectious diseases, to participate in collaborative studies with clinicians and scientists at the Hospital for Sick Children, and to hold a position in the Research Institute of the hospital. The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate teaching, and residency training supervision.
Candidates must hold a medical degree and Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Medical Microbiology or equivalent. The applicant should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum salary and benefits is in accordance with the uniform minimal level of compensation for laboratory physicians in Ontario, currently $348,000 per annum.
