Curriculum Lab Supervisor (Bakersfield)

Job Description Summary:
The basic function of this position is to supervise and operate the Curriculum Lab (a teacher resource center) at the Kern County Regional Campus. The Curriculum Lab Supervisor will be responsible for providing instructional support services to University of La Verne students who utilize the Curriculum Lab.

Specific Duties:

1. Organize and direct the operation of the University of La Verne, La Fetra College of Education, Kern County Campus, Curriculum Lab program.
- Supervise the Curriculum Lab and provide instructional support services to more than 100 students enrolled in the LaFetra College of Education programs.
- This position is approved for a maximum of 10 hours per week during the 10 week terms (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer.)
- The curriculum lab will be open on Saturdays, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
- A couple hours during the week (Monday - Friday) may occasionally be scheduled to meet the needs for a particular class or event.
2. Responsible for management of Curriculum Lab inventory. Monitor the checking out and returning of books.
3. Maintain records of daily sign in sheet, attendance report, daily cash box, and monthly cash count.
4. Develop marketing campaign strategies for the Curriculum Lab program by promoting the Curriculum Lab’s services, resources, and hours of operation to current ULV students, faculty, and staff. Marketing strategies include the following: using digital media, print materials, campus events, oral classroom presentation, or guided Curriculum Lab tour.
5. Decorate the Curriculum Lab and bulletin board with a monthly or holiday theme. Create, research, and display example lessons, activities, games, booklets, etc. Provide lesson ideas, information regarding University dates, and any other professional development information.
6. Assist students and faculty with general technology issues in the Curriculum Lab and computer lab.
7. Assist the Kern County Campus with monthly Information meetings by making photocopies and preparing welcome packets.
8. Establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with faculty, staff, and students while representing the University of La Verne.
9. Ability to use independent judgment and make logical decisions with minimal supervision, and report to the Curriculum Lab Coordinator regarding the Kern County Regional Campus, Curriculum Lab program.
10. Other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or related student service area.
2. Experience working with adult students.
3. Experience in teaching, counseling, or library services.
4. Experience managing resources, inventory, record keeping, and check-out procedures.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
6. Strong interpersonal skills and communication techniques.
7. Ability to seek out and understand expectations and needs of students in the teaching credential program.
8. Demonstrate respect and sensitivity toward others.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working with Blackboard, Taskstream, WebEx, and Telepresence.
2. Marketing skills.
3. Experience working in a college/university setting.
