Retention Coordinator – Center for Academic Support and Achievement (CASA)
Tacoma Community College (TCC) is pleased to invite applications for Retention Coordinator-CASA. This position will be responsible to provide academic advising, educational planning, mentoring and advocacy to increase retention and success. The Retention Coordinator works directly with entering at-risk and underrepresented students in CASA to increase their engagement and persistence. This position will function as a team member in support of all programs in CASA and will report to the Director of CASA/MECA.
Tacoma Community College is a comprehensive state-supported community college servicing more than 720,000 residents of the Tacoma-Pierce County area and enrolling approximately 18,000 students annually (6,000 FTE). The College's service district includes all of Tacoma and the Pierce County portion of the Olympic Peninsula and serves the Tacoma and Peninsula school districts. TCC is one of 34 community and technical colleges in a statewide system. Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, just south of Seattle. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in education, student services personnel development or closely related field from an accredited college or university, two years of experience providing advising, educational planning, advocacy and/or navigation assistance to a diverse student population, experience working with effectively as an outreach and recruitment professional with feeder high schools and related agencies, experience working effectively with adults, non-traditional or low income clients in a higher education counseling, or social service delivery setting and a strong understanding of Student Development Theory and experience working in higher education environments.
This is a full time exempt professional position contracted on an annual basis. The starting salary of this position is $47,500 annually DOE/DOQ. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual number of contract days worked in the remainder of the year. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the needs of the department.
