Primary Function of Organization Unit: The primary purpose of Sterile/Central Supply is to provide sterile equipment and supplies for the NC State Veterinary Hospital at College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). Sterile Processing is responsible for cleaning, assembling and sterilizing surgical instruments. Instrumentation is processed for all areas of the Veterinary Health Complex. Central Supply stocks all disposable sterile/non-sterile items utilized by all areas within the NC State Veterinary Hospital.

Essential Job Duties: The position of Hospital Purchasing & Inventory Assistant is responsible for assisting the Purchasing & Inventory Manager, Pharmacy Purchasing Associate, and Central Services Purchasing Associate. This staff member provides customer service to internal and external customers, answering questions concerning products within our Pharmacy, Central Services, and Cyclosporine Implants. This associate oversees the VH Cyclosporine Implant inventory and completes daily orders as requested from customers all over the World. This associate will assist with filling orders and receiving shipments delivered to the Veterinary Hospital. *Execution of procurement for Veterinary Hospital services after approval by upper management has been made. *Generate quotes for services based on need and price, assisting management and hospital administration with capital equipment. *Complete cost comparison analysis on like items, presenting to requester, and prior to final decision for purchase. *Work with management to identify product comparisons to present to Product Evaluation Committee quarterly, in an effort to decrease hospital consumable expenditures. *Understand and follow all NC State and State of North Carolina procurement policies, being a resource for all services within Veterinary Hospital. *Receive and process Cyclosporine Implant orders as requested by customers, shipping implants within 24-hours of receiving, and following tracking to ensure delivery. *Cross train to cover for Pharmacy Purchasing, Central Services Purchasing and Shipping & Receiving Associate

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Knowledge of MS Office products, email, fax and copy machines. Demonstrates regular and timely attendance. Flexible with scheduling and filling in when needed. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds frequently and up to 90 pounds occasionally with assistance. Adheres to all hospital and department policies regarding leave requests, tracking of leave balances, time-keeping systems and notification of sick days Follows all University policies such as adverse weather and essential personnel status Participates in on-call and/or holiday schedule coverage as required. Demonstrates sensitivity to coworkers and respects interpersonal differences. Works and communicates effectively with other team members and management. Expands his/her knowledge and skills in order to make a larger contribution to the hospital and shares this knowledge with other team members. Helps with other employee's jobs when needed. Presents professional appearance, neat in uniform.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Veterinary or Pharmacy Technician experience. Client service experience working with external customers. Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and equipment, specifically working in a veterinary or non-veterinary medical facility.
