Position Summary: This senior academic and administrative officer leads the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This organization advances the mission of the University by maintaining the integrity, privacy, and utility of student education records and by collaborating with colleagues to design and implement policies, procedures, systems, and reports that enhance learning and teaching and foster success and completion for all students. Reporting to the Vice Provost for Enrollment and Undergraduate Admissions, and working closely with skilled and motivated staff members in OUR and with colleagues in the other enrollment offices and among the faculty and staff of the University, the Assistant Provost and University Registrar: - Leads the organization-establishing goals; determining structure; strengthening culture; deepening commitment to diversity and inclusion; assessing and improving performance; caring and advocating for staff members and encouraging their professional development; serving as primary spokesperson. - Develops strategy-collaborating with colleagues, including deans and faculty members, to design academic policies and implement administrative processes and systems that facilitate the success of students and professors and advance the University's mission and its academic, financial, and strategic plans; grounding decisions in sound research and data; assessing and anticipating future needs in budget, staffing, and technology, and planning to meet or mitigate them. - Manages risk-ensuring compliance with federal, state, agency, organization, and University laws and regulations; protecting privacy and confidentiality of student education records. - Informs the conversation-advising senior leaders on matters related to academic policies, procedures, and systems; championing the role that the registrar's office and its practices can play in fostering access, opportunity, affordability, and academic excellence; representing the University at professional conferences and other gatherings; serving as an authority on registrar-related issues at the state and national levels.

Education Requirements: Requirements for the position include an advanced degree and seven years of progressively responsible experience in a registrar's office or a closely related department or organization.
