Posting Summary:
The McIntire School of Commerce seeks applications for a prolific and creative Content Writer. The Content Writer will assist with the entire content lifecycle: analyzing, planning, writing, editing, distributing, managing and monitoring content ? with a heavy emphasis on writing fresh news content every day. Working closely with the Senior Editor, s/he will be responsible for planning, creating, posting and curating integrated content across the School's website, blogs, social media channels, email marketing, advertising, multimedia, media relations activities and print collateral. S/he will leverage editorial skills to ensure that the School's outward facing mediums contain engaging, relevant, timely, accurate and typo-free news, information and features that build awareness of the School, its departments, programs, faculty, students and alumni. Daily writing and content output will vary but will likely include feature articles, blog posts, ad copy, video scripts, infographic content, website pages, social posts, press releases, etc. S/he will help to create and steward editorial standards and strategies by effectively collaborating with staff and faculty to identify content goals and ensure a measurable, impactful execution.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Available after-hours occasionally to cover events
Comfortable interviewing story subjects of all ranks and ages for quotes, themes and details
-Adept at development of relevant and compelling themes, messages and topics
-Demonstrated project management experience overseeing multiple editorial projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, complex environment
-Ability to build strong relationships within McIntire and across the University where applicable
-Top-notch verbal and written communication skills with an eye for detail
-Strong ability to prioritize work and resources across assignments, based on short and long-term needs
-Ability to think in terms of positive solutions for negative problems
-Impeccable client management skills
-Collaborative, team player able to contribute creative ideas in team setting
-Strong understanding of global perspectives
-Willingness and interest in learning new skills and adapt in growing team environment
-Ability to exercise appropriate discretion when dealing with sensitive issues
-Experience with brand narratives, brand "voice" and brand storytelling
