Specialist - Teacher 

Position Summary

Seeking three (3) qualified candidate as a preschool teacher/child development specialist to work with children at the Michigan State University Child Development Laboratory (CDL) within the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. Successful candidates will teach in a nationally recognized, university-affiliated laboratory program for young children and teachers in training. The CDL provides parenting education/family support and high quality early childhood programming for children ages birth to 6 years. Responsibilities include: functioning as a head teacher in an early childhood classroom and specialist at Michigan State University; training, supervising, and evaluating university students; and participating in professional outreach. Other duties as assigned by director. Minimum of 3 years successful teaching experience as a lead teacher with preschool aged children. Experience with linguistically and culturally diverse families is desired. Experience working with children with special needs in an inclusive setting.

Minimum Qualifications

A Master's in Child Development or Early Childhood Education or equivalent. Courses and experience equivalent to those required for the Michigan Early Childhood Endorsement.

Health Risk/Physical Demands

Lifting 1-2 hours a day from floor and waist 42", max weight 50 lbs. Carrying 1-2 hours a day for a distance of 100 ft and total weight of 50 lbs. Pushing/Pulling 1-2 hours a day large stroller with 4 children at a maximum distance of 5000 ft and total weight of 200 lbs.
