Director, Global Admissions
Sotheby’s Institute of Art, the international leader in art business education and object-based learning, seeks a Director of Global Admissions. Founded nearly 50 years ago in London, Sotheby's Institute of Art is among the world's leading graduate level institutions offering programs in art business, art scholarship, and connoisseurship. Students learn via first-hand encounters with experts in the art world, through examination of works of art in context, and via field study travel. With locations in London, New York, and Los Angeles, plus numerous accredited graduate and undergraduate and Semester programs, which are respectively accredited by premier organizations (The University of Manchester, NY State and NASAD, and Claremont Graduate University), as well as Summer and Online programs, Sotheby’s Institute is recruiting a dynamic admissions professional with a strategic vision for recruiting exceptional students.
The Director of Global Admissions will lead admissions efforts at an exciting period in the Institute’s history, as it continues enhance and introduce new programs and concentrations in Art Business, Contemporary Art, Fine and Decorative Art and Design, Modern and Contemporary Asian Art, Arts Management, Art Law, Curating, and Photography. The Director will be responsible for continued growth in the accredited programs across the three locations. S/he will also work to increase the enrollment of high-quality students from around the world who have a passion for developing a career in the art world.
This individual will report to Jos Hackforth-Jones and Christine Kuan, CEOs of Sotheby’s Institute of Art, and work with them to define and implement a strategic plan for global admissions and recruiting. S/he will sit on the Executive Committee of the Institute, partnering with other members of the Committee to discuss the larger strategic and operational plans. The Global Director of Admissions will lead a global team and will be responsible for all aspects of the daily operations of global admissions. S/he will lead efforts to increase academic excellence and student selectivity while building enrollment via a significant expansion in the applicant pool. S/he will craft a strategic enrollment program in collaboration with the Marketing team that benefits from the latest outreach and communication techniques, and derives insight from quantitative modeling.
As well as an outstanding record of achievement in and understanding of Admissions and Recruiting at university level with ideally graduate experience both in the US and internationally, the successful candidate will have an interest in and/or experience of the visual arts or a related field. S/he will have a commitment to and experience of international education including an understanding of managing teams remotely in London, NY, LA and Beijing. S/he be will dynamic, diplomatic, strategic, and collaborative.
