ONE HEALTH RESEARCH DIRECTOR
Duties: The School of Veterinary Medicine is creating a new position to develop a multidisciplinary dual degree program for students of PENN VET. This position will report to Dr. Phil Scott, Vice Dean for Research and Academic Resources VET MED. The One Health Director of Research will develop a program that combines a research-focused MS degree with the VMD. The One Health Research Director will develop the curriculum/resources to develop skills that extend beyond the clinical training programs and prepare students for hypothesis-driven scholarship and grant writing/publication. Among some of the areas of study that will be developed through the program include critical thinking skills, investigative skills, epidemiological studies, statistics, preparation for grant writing, and ultimately advances the student to take part in translational medicine and clinical trials that lead to medical innovation.
The Director will lead all communication efforts in informing relevant entities (Board, Faculty, Senior School leadership, Department Chairs) of status of program, curriculum development, accreditation matters, policies/procedures and overall ongoing status and success of program. Provide class lectures for various parts of the MS program and provide guidance to dual-degree students in order to successfully integrate the educational, research and service missions of the program.
Qualifications: Highly advanced professional discipline. M.D., Ph. D., Law degree or equivalent doctoral degree and 10 plus years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
