The Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia is seeking a tenure-ineligible Assistant Professor to join its clinical and research faculty within Behavioral Medicine. Approximately 50% of the incumbent's time will be spent in UVA's Behavioral Medicine Clinic providing empirically-based psychological services (i.e., assessment and intervention) to patients diagnosed with a wide variety of medical disorders and psychiatric disorders. In addition 50% of the incumbent's time will be spent working in the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic on an integrated care team providing psychological intervention and assessment. Lastly, the incumbent is expected to participate in the training/supervision of practicum students, psychiatry residents, and/or psychology fellows.
Candidates must have a PhD/PsyD or equivalent, in Clinical Psychology or in a related field from an APA accredited program. Post-doctoral experience in Behavioral Medicine or Health Psychology is preferred. Preference will be given to those with experience providing empirically-based psychological interventions within a Cystic Fibrosis context, using cognitive and behavioral based therapies, and performing medically-specialized psychological evaluations, including pre-surgical evaluations of candidates for organ transplant and/or bariatric surgery procedures. Candidates must be license-eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia and must be licensed by date of hire.
This position may be eligible to convert to tenure-track at an appropriate time in the future, consistent with SOM Promotion and Tenure guidelines and candidate qualifications.
