Position Summary


At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Senior Pharmacist/ Pharmacy Supervisor is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population.

Duties of a TH Senior Pharmacists/Pharmacy Sterile Compounding Supervisor in the Pharmacy Department may include the following but are not limited to:


Brief Description of Duties:



• Supervise TH Pharmacists, TH Pharmacy Assistants and other personnel assigned to the sterile compounding area.

Oversee and coordinate the training and competency evaluation for all personnel assigned to the sterile compounding area.

Oversee and ensure the efficient operation of all areas in which sterile products are prepared.

• Maintain compliance with all laws, rules and regulations governing the practice of Pharmacy.

• Effectively coordinate delivery of pharmaceutical care with other departments and areas that perform direct or indirect patient care.

• Maintain an accurate and adequate inventory of medications.

Performance of other duties as required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: BS degree in Pharmacy or a PharmD degree. License to practice Pharmacy in New York State and a current New York State Pharmacy Registration. Two years of prior pharmacy supervisory experience. One year prior sterile compounding supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced certification in USP Chapter <797> and USP Chapter <800> sterile compounding. Experience in the preparation and handling of chemotherapy and hazardous products. Prior hospital pharmacy experience, and automation experience is preferred.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services (The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination), submit (3) written references, and provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
