University Communications has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Social Media Specialist position.

Jobs in this career family involve development, marketing and management of messaging to both internal and external parties. Functions include marketing; advertising; communications; publications; brand management; writing; editing; proofreading; graphic design; web information architecture, development and design; web content development; electronic communications; social media; news media/relations; public relations; photography; videography; radio/television broadcasting; FCC compliance; and communication projects management.
Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.
At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.
The Social Media Specialist will join the 20-person University Communications team. The specialist manages the day-to-day oversight of the official university social properties. The position will focus on telling the story of CU Denver and CU Anschutz through compelling and creative means, using digital media and online platforms to effectively, and appropriately share stories with targeted groups. This position will stay up-to-date on the rapidly changing online landscape to incorporate innovative social media practices to advance the University's brand development and strategic goals.
The Social Media Specialist will likely travel regularly between CU Denver located in downtown Denver and CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colo.
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring range for this position has been established at $39,964 to $42,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation

A bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications or a directly related field from an accredited institution and 1 year of professional level experience in social media, marketing communications, journalism or related field.
- Familiarity and experience with social media platforms including: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Snapchat in a professional or business environment.
- Experience in a higher education institution.
- Experience with content management systems, (SiteFinity, Drupal, WordPress).
- Working knowledge of and experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro).
- Advanced knowledge of digital audio and video recording equipment, experience operating such equipment and experience with digital audio and video editing software.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
- Writing for the web, short-form creative writing, editing, proofreading.
- Able to tell a story with words and visuals, with excellent written communication and grammar.
- Able to manage diverse workload under deadline pressure; skilled at handing multiple priorities in a shifting social media landscape.
- Self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a larger team.
- Capable of measuring the impact of social media activities using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
- Strong analytical mindset, but with a creative mind to approach challenges in unique ways.
