Position Information
UCR ARTSblock encompasses the California Museum of Photography, Culver Center of the Arts and the Sweeney Art Gallery, and is the public arts unit of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS). Located three miles from UCR's main campus, ARTSblock is situated on a single block in adjacent historical buildings along the pedestrian mall in downtown Riverside. Housed in two renovated department stores from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, ARTSblock's adaptive reuse enlivens the city's downtown core.

By merging the already established photographic museum and university art gallery with the new, multi-disciplinary Culver Center, ARTSblock serves as a cultural anchor for both the University and the broader Inland Empire communities. ARTSblock organizes provocative and timely art exhibitions, performances, screenings, and other programs with the aim of invigorating the cultural life of artists and residents of Southern California, nurturing creative and critical thinking on campus and in the community, and promoting the importance of the arts for a healthy society. ARTSblock offers innovative programs that engage diverse audiences, nourish the imagination, and challenge assumptions. The extensive art, photography, and research collections of the CMP and Sweeney Art Gallery make ARTSblock an important destination for audiences as well as researchers working in a wide range of fields.

This position supports the Executive Director and development efforts for ARTSblock, by managing day to day operations including calendars, timelines, donor cultivation and stewardship, marketing, government relations, educational outreach, including telephone and office coverage, incoming and outgoing correspondence, editing of published materials and other administrative and development business processes. Analyzes data from a variety of sources, including visitor/audience data, fundraising and donor management database. Provides professional support for a Board of Directors, ad-hoc committees, and volunteers. Supports interactions with donors, faculty and staff scheduling, along with various types of meetings, fundraising and stewardship events, communications, and gift processing.

Exceptional diplomacy and professionalism are required.

Minimum Requirements
Graduation from college with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated administrative support experience, including strong organizational skills and ability to exercise independent judgement.

Ability to analyze and define problems, identify relevant factors and concerns, and develop and implement solutions in a timely and efficient manner.

Demonstrated expertise in events planning and management.

High-level operational experience in PC software such as MS Office, Word, Excel, and email programs. Ability to navigate advanced database and internet. Accurate and fast word processing and data entry abilities, excellent writing and editing skills.

Experience in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner under the pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and competing priorities and requirements.

Demonstrated ability to maintain the strictest confidence.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and create correspondence with donors and potential donors.

Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a diverse clientele, including the public, donors, faculty, staff, and administrators.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Blackbaud databases and Adobe Creative Suite

Experience with UC policies and procedures related to Development activities and functions.

Experience in a University or Arts non-profit organization.
