Instructor/Assistant/Associate Professor and Chair of Industrial Technology

Required: Master’s degree in Industrial Technology or related discipline. Must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and possess excellent communication skills; be technically current; be an enthusiastic team player who is willing to work in a multidisciplinary program; and have demonstrated skills in leadership..
Preferred: Earned doctorate in Industrial Technology or related discipline.
Primary Responsibilities: Candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Industrial Technology. Classes assigned may include Woodwork Technology, Metalwork Technology, Basic Electricity, Power Technology, Introduction to Computer-aided Design and Drafting, Welding Technology, Technology of Small Engine Maintenance and Repair, Architectural Drafting, Three-dimensional Computer Graphics, and Methods and Techniques of Construction. The ideal candidate will have had prior teaching experience in higher education and/or, technical education, and/or professional work experience.
Candidate will be expected to fill the role of Department Chair, supervising full-time instructors, adjunct instructors, student workers, and department secretary. Supervisory duties include, but are not limited to, advising majors, managing department budgets, maintaining department records, purchasing and maintaining equipment, and contributing to accreditation efforts. Candidate will be expected to grow the department in directions that demonstrate a commitment to the Mission and Vision of Sul Ross State University. This may include expanding certification programs, hiring new faculty, and revising/expanding degree offerings.
