JOB PURPOSE:
The role of the Talent Development Manager is to lead the planning and execution of a portfolio of talent programs, solutions, and initiatives. This role will focus on supporting managers across the organization, including running our Manager Academy, supporting performance management systems and training, and developing new resources and support for managers as needed.

CORE DUTIES*:

  • Provide thought leadership, advice and counsel on talent management strategy, direction, and interventions to senior leaders and/or HR business partners.
  • Manage a portfolio of manager-focused talent programs, processes, tools and frameworks with appropriate customization at the school/business unit level.
  • Make recommendations for new needed programs or tools.
  • Plan and implement new programs or tools as needed, including assessing need, managing stakeholder interest and buying, developing project plans and budgets, managing vendors, designing curriculum, and managing communications.
  • Develop and deploy measurement system to track and report progress on talent management to university management.
  • Provide coaching and/or facilitation support to program participants and campus partners.

    Education & Experience:
    Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to establish a strong partnership with the senior human resources partners and other members of the management team.
  • Deep expertise and experience developing and implementing effective talent management solutions, including workforce planning, learning and development, performance management, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Strong instructional/curriculum design skills and experience.
  • Strong program/project management skills and experience.
  • Ability to build the confidence of others through open communication and respectful behavior.
  • Ability to connect with customers, partners, suppliers, and colleagues across functions to achieve significant results.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk based computer tasks, use a telephone, and grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely kneel/crawl, operate foot and/or hand controls.
