The position will be reporting to the Manager of the Oracle Financials System Support group within Administrative Systems (AS). AS is part of University Information Technology (UIT) department managed by the Office of the CIO. This position requires a good combination of functional and technical knowledge of the Oracle Financials R12 E-business suite. A successful candidate will have demonstrated a track record of delivering quality solutions providing with the highest value to the University and solid technical expertise of several of the Oracle based Technology used in Oracle E-Business Suite. The candidate should have experience in performing production support activities including, and not limited to, evaluating Patches/Fixes, maintaining system configurations, running batch cycles, data cleanup, testing, filing/resolving service requests, and estimating enhancements.

The Oracle Financials Support team is responsible for the support, maintenance, operations and upgrades of various Oracle E-Business Suite applications (Cash Management, Fixed Assets, Property Manager), as well as other third party/custom financial applications and applications developed internally at Stanford using Oracle Application Express (APEX). The team is also responsible in maintaining other Development tools such as Incorta for Reporting and Analytics, and SALLIE and Doc Lib for image and document repository. The team also supports custom applications integration with other Oracle Financials Systems and Enterprise Data Warehousing.

We are recruiting to fill three (3) full-time IT Software Developer positions.


  • Propose, conceptualize, design, implement, and develop solutions for difficult and complex applications independently.
  • Oversee testing, debugging, change control, and documentation for major projects.
  • Supervise professional staff, as necessary, working on all phases of application development projects.
  • Define complex application development administration and programming standards.
  • Oversee the support, maintenance, operation, and upgrades of applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Review the physical design of existing systems for optimizing performance.
  • Lead projects, as necessary, for special systems and application development in areas of complex problems.
  • Work with other technical professionals to develop standards and implement best practices.
  • Partner with business management to define the appropriate technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with peer managers to coordinate enterprise-wide integration requirements.
  • Coordinate work efforts for system enhancements and upgrades.
  • Coordinate production support, and provide application performance metrics to business partners and IT management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and programming tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, testing, and deploying applications.
  • Strong understanding of data design, architecture, relational databases, and data modeling.
  • Thorough understanding of all aspects of software development life cycle and quality control practices.
  • Ability to define and solve logical problems for highly technical applications.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical clients.
  • Demonstrated experience leading activities on structured team development projects.
  • Ability to select, adapt, and effectively use a variety of programming methods.
  • Ability to recognize and recommend needed changes in user and/or operations procedures.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and methodologies.

Relevant Work Experience:

  • Experience with Oracle eBusiness Suite, such as Casg Management and Fixed Assets on Release 12 is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, Oracle Workflow, Forms, and XML Publisher is a plus
  • Experience with Java and Oracle OAF is a plus
  • Experience in Oracle APEX, JavaScript, Web Services and XML is required


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education is a plus

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sit, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, use a telephone.
  • Rarely writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
