The division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) includes four major areas: Development, Advancement Services, Alumni Relations, and the Career Development Center. As a part of DAR, the Report Writer/Analyst works in an office that provides the infrastructure for DAR, including database management, reporting, gift and biographical records management, and online and technical solutions which help to minimize risk and maximize philanthropic performance. This position reports to an Associate Director, Advancement Information Services.

This position is a part of Advancement Services (AS), which is comprised of three areas: Advancement Information Services (AIS), Records and Gift Processing (RGP), and Donor and Volunteer Relations (DVR).

Advancement Information Services (AIS) Duties:
* Works closely with the Advancement Information Services team to deal with a wide variety of functions relating to the development, implementation, maintenance, documentation, use and support of computer-based development information systems.
* Analyzes business needs by exploring relationships in collections of information and by holding discussions and requirements gathering sessions with other Advancement Information Services members in order to provide unified Business Intelligence (BI) solutions for stakeholders.
* Evaluates, designs, builds, and maintains business intelligence solutions using tools such as SQL Server 2014, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), XML. This position is responsible for creating/maintaining reports with Microsoft SSRS, Blackbaud Constituent Relationship Management (BBCRM) artifacts (Smart Queries, Data Forms, Data Lists, ListBuilders, Selections), and other BBCRM related modifications using VisualBasic editor and the BBCRM SDK.
* Creates, analyzes, and validates detailed functional specifications for BI solutions.
* Builds and implements BI solutions that support data ingestion, processing, and visualizations of metrics critical to Advancement.
* Responsible for the development and maintenance of documentation for all assigned BI solutions.
* Identifies patterns and trends and provides new insights to Advancement.
* Utilizes Tableau Desktop and Server to develop dynamic, interactive dashboards and visualizations.
* Assists with maintaining and extending the Blackbaud CRM DataWarehouse via BBCRM SDK.
* Analyzes, plans, creates, and maintains moderately complex reports/database projects. The projects will be generally varied, with broad assignments and considerable latitude actions and decisions. The incumbent will interact with team members and assigned student, faculty, or staff clients. The incumbent will work under minimal supervision and may train, assign tasks, provide assistance to, and review the work of less experienced employees. The incumbent will assist senior staff with problem-solving and anticipating issues.
* Performs other duties as assigned.


* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline
* Possesses sound knowledge of established report writing and programming interfaces to support print-ready, parameterized, and analytical report writing tools, and have the ability to analyze business processes and reflect those in both database design and reporting solutions
* Excellent organization, prioritization, judgment, and problem-solving skills
* Experience building reporting solutions using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services or similar BI product

Other Requirements:
This position requires occasional evening and weekend work to support DAR's signature events including significant blocks of time during the weekend events.


* Experience with nonprofit fundraising and Records and Gifts Processing
* Experience with Blackbaud CRM and a wide variety of software is of significant importance
* Proficient in relational database systems, querying, reporting, and analysis tools, and experience with relational database design
* Programming in any combination of SQL, TSQL, PL/SQL, XML, Javascript, VisualBasic, Visual Editor and basic SDK stored procedures
* Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Office applications experience, and MS Excel
