Job Description Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Retail Operations, the Retail Coordinator offers support in all aspects of the Museum Shop daily operations. Works with staff to model shop policies and procedures in addition to displaying excellent customer service in a professional and an efficient manner. The Retail Coordinator will work closely with staff to motivate, encourage task among staff to work safely, efficiently and accurately.

Job Responsibilities:

Assists employees on PCI compliant, cash handling and customer service skills; Utilizes Point-of-Sale system and balance inventories; Performs end-of-day reports and cash counts after store closing; Oversees and approves, daily receipts, customer adjustments, refunds and prepares cash deposits

Resolves customer conflicts by listening and analyzing to result in appropriate action; Creates and maintains displays and merchandise inventory; Undertakes cleaning and organization when necessary to maintain the appearance of the museum shop and office

Assists with system maintenance, software upgrades on POS and computerized inventory system and postage updates; Records damages and process through Retail Star

Assists with development, communications and implementation of marketing plans for non-text merchandise; Evaluates, process and reconciles all e-commerce transactions; Creates and receives merchandise inventory purchase orders; Responsible for maintaining adequate inventories of books, textiles, accessories and gift merchandise.

Provides shop coverage for lunch/break relief and in times of need; Works weekends and extend working hours to provide museum shop coverage during normal and non-normal working hours during high volume times related to tours, programs and events

Assists with establishing training part-time and full-time university students on the shop, museum and university functions, policies and procedures as it relates to their position and as needed; Participates in-store and off-site events

Oversees editorial content of museum store website; Communicates with diplomacy, tact and confidence; Meet deadlines and handles concurrent multiple tasks with minimum supervision

Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning additional responsibilities that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED, or equivalent combination of training and experience, is necessary plus 1.5 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree.

Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior retail experience
• Merchandising and display skills
• Strong sales oriented knowledge, abilities and skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated skill in operating a personal computer, using word processing, spreadsheets and database formats used by the museum and university
• Word for Windows, Excel, Photoshop and others.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn University online purchasing.
