The university is in the early stages of planning its next comprehensive campaign and is currently recruiting top national talent to join the team. Carolina Development is seeking applications for the position of Leadership Annual Giving Officer. Reporting to the Director of Leadership Annual Giving, the Officer will be responsible for the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of leadership annual gifts to advance the mission of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This position will identify and solicit leadership annual giving prospects in assigned school and unit constituencies which include making personal solicitations for gifts totaling $500,000 or more as part of the annual goal. The Officer will complete 175 personal visits each year, with an emphasis on identifying and soliciting new Leadership Annual Giving members. They will coordinate closely with development colleagues across the university to maximize the cultivation, involvement, and solicitation of alumni, parent, and individual donors. Travel and some weekend work are required.
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree is required.
Qualification and Experience: 3+ years of experience in annual fundraising and major gift development or transferrable experience required. Ability to manage special events and other related activities. Ability to develop trust and strong collaborative working relationships. Experience nurturing and motivating development professionals in order to foster professional growth and exceed organizational goals. Ability to interact effectively in a comprehensive research university setting. Familiarity with the University's academic and administrative offices and their functions; knowledge of and ability to tap resources within the University. An employment history highlighted by increasing levels of responsibility and a demonstrated ability to exercise sensitivity and good judgment in dealing with staff and the public. Superb interpersonal relationship skills. Exceptional written and oral communications skills. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Willingness and ability to travel.
