RESEARCH SPECIALIST A
Duties: A Research Specialist A position is available to assist in general laboratory functions in the Neurosurgery Sharpe Lab, participating in projects focused on in-vivo testing and cadaveric biomechanics testing. Responsibilities include performing in-vivo surgeries and behavioral assessments, assisting with cadaveric studies, and analyzing data. The candidate will also perform cellular, molecular and biochemical assays such as immunohistochemistry and western blot, and assisting the investigator in setting up the PI's laboratory and SOP's. Additional responsibilities will include data preparation-analysis-interpretation, retrieval of recent literature, the maintenance and general management of laboratory space, preparation of routine reagents, ordering of supplies, cell culture maintenance, and microscopy imaging techniques. Excellent organizational and communication skills are of importance.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Bioengineering, Neuroscience or closely related field and 0 to 1 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. The candidate should also possess strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as familiarity with analyzing, graphing and presenting data. Attention to detail, organizational skills, reliability, ability to work independently and willingness to manage and work cooperatively with others required.
