Position Summary:

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics LASP is a dynamic, world-renowned research facility that is a notable contributor to many NASA programs. LASP is in need of a Senior level Windows Administrator located at the University of Colorado-Boulder East Research Park to provide day-to-day operational support for our Windows 2008/2012 servers, Windows 7 and 10 workstations and other system infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks and should display excellent technical problem solving skills, a solid understanding of Windows network operating systems, advanced knowledge in Exchange administration and strong understanding of LAN/WAN networking.

Job Duties:

Associated tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Administer and support Microsoft Exchange Email system in all facets including user support, system and capacity design, and troubleshooting

• Administer and support Microsoft Active Directory in all facets including user support, system and capacity design, and troubleshooting

• Deploy, configure and support Windows based software packages and operating systems

• Experience with setup and maintenance of Dell and x86 based servers

• Planning and support for new architecture, project and tools with laboratory goals in mind

• Interact with our University and Laboratory personnel to coordinate system events with end users

• Work as part of a senior team to solve complex issues in a distributed environment

• Actively mentor, lead, and assist in the direction of student employees and full time team members

• Work with IT leadership and internal IT customers to define future requirements and roadmap

Responsibilities may sometimes require working evenings and weekends


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with demonstrable knowledge of Windows administration

• Experience in a VMware environment ESXi and VCenter

• Experience with bare metal systems/servers building and preparation

• Strong experience with Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policies

• Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software and IT systems

• Strong communication skills with the ability to understand and communicate difficult technical concepts and advanced business goals

• Experience with scripting, e.g. Powershell. Shell scripting and other dynamic scripting languages is a plus

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience in UNIX administration is highly desired

• Experience with provisioning systems for automated machine builds and deployments

• Experience in software engineering, network engineering, or database implementation a plus

• Ability to learn quickly and take on new tasks

• Resourcefulness to multi-task current projects and flexibility in assignments

• Excellent time management, organizational and team skills

• Exceptional communication skills via phone and email

• Ability to occasionally lift 30 lbs.
