Degree and Area of Specialization:
Master's degree required; Preferred emphasis in finance and coursework in security analysis and portfolio management.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
6Minimum years of professional experience, with substantial emphasis in security selection and portfolio management. Individual will have excellent oral and written communication skills, display a high level of professionalism and have experience training and mentoring junior staff and/or teaching college students. Candidate should have excellent organizational, administrative, presentation, and time management skills. Preferred candidates will have worked in a Director of Research role in a buy-side or sell-side financial institution and have participated in a student managed investment fund. Experience using financial tools and databases required.
This position will have substantial responsibility for achieving the mission of the Hawk Center for Investment Analysis. Responsibilities will include a combination of teaching, mentoring, recruitment, placement, and fundraising. The particular mix of duties, and therefore the structure of the center staffing, will depend on the specific skills of the candidate. The percentages given below reflect the mix of duties for a structure with a single Director, and these duties are currently shared across two Co-Directors. If we continue with the Co-Director structure, then the candidate may perform some mix of these duties and teach some graduate and/or undergraduate Finance classes that are not specifically linked to the Hawk Center.
The position may be staffed by a single full time individual, or we will also consider a combination of part-time co-directors with minimum 1/3 time appointments.
At mutual agreement of the Academic Director and the School of Business, arrangements can be made to extend the 9-month academic year position to include summer duties.
The anticipated begin date merely reflects the earliest possible start date. New hires may actually begin on a date later than the one listed.
