Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Theory
The Department of Politics at The University of the South seeks applications for a visiting position in political theory for the 2017-18 year. The teaching load for this position is four courses. The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Political Theory and upper division courses. These courses may be open with regard to the candidate's area of interest, but candidates should be able to offer courses related to issues of diversity, identity, inclusion, justice, and citizenship. These courses should reflect the thematic, not chronological, approach to our theory curriculum, and we are especially interested in courses such as African-American Political Thought, Feminist Theory, and American Political Thought.
The position requires demonstrated teaching ability and a strong commitment to innovative, effective teaching in the liberal arts tradition. The position is open to candidates ABD or with Ph.D. in hand.
