The Princeton Institute of the Science and Technology of Materials (PRISM) seeks a full-time, experienced professional, appointed at the rank of Associate Professional Specialist or more senior, to focus on the development / commercialization of mid-infrared gas sensing device for environmental and industrial application as a collaboration with our industrial partners. The ideal candidate will have the ability work collaboratively with these partners to develop and transfer research prototypes into commercial products with a specific goal and timelines. The position reports to Professor Mark Zondlo. This position is for one-year and may be extended subject to satisfactory performance and continued funding. This position is subject to the University's background check policy. * Ph.D. required in Physics, Engineering or a related field, and a minimum of three years of related experience * Demonstrated experimental expertise in developing and deploying optical devices, with broad understanding of optical components such as Mid-IR lasers and detectors * Working knowledge on laser spectroscopic gas sensing techniques * Strong skill in designing and developing prototype device for both hardware and software * Ability to assesses instrument performance using evaluation criteria and perform system calibration/ diagnostics * Demonstrated skill in researching, analyzing, and compiling technical data and writing scientific reports/presentation. * Excellent communication and presentation skills * Opto-mechanical design * Electronic PCB design, assembly and test * LabVIEW based software development or embedded system development * Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to meet time critical needs/demands * Self- motivated
