The Department of Anthropology at the University of Colorado Denver invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biological Anthropology at the Assistant Professor level beginning fall 2017. We seek a biological anthropologist with specialization in the biology of past and/or present human populations. Potential areas of interest include but are not limited to epigenetics, early life antecedents of adult disease, and human ecology/adaptation. Candidates with a proven track record of high impact publications, an ongoing field and/or lab-based research project, high potential for garnering external funding, and an ability to complement faculty strengths and solidify links to the Anschutz Medical Campus are especially encouraged to apply.
The Department of Anthropology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) at the University of Colorado Denver, which is tasked with supporting the general education of the undergraduate student body, offers a major and minor program, and a terminal M.A. degree in Anthropology. The department sees undergraduate education as an opportunity to produce educated citizens, where majors receive broad preparation for a variety of careers that draw upon technical skills and an understanding of human culture. The terminal Master's program is designed to produce practitioner-scholars trained both in specific skill sets and in the critical theories that allow them to interrogate and improve upon the status quo. Within our M.A., we have developed concentrations of Medical Anthropology, Archaeology, and Biological Anthropology.
- Ph.D. in anthropology required at time of appointment.
- Proven track record of high impact publications.
- An ongoing field and/or lab-based research project.
- High potential for bringing in external funding.
- Ability to complement faculty strengths and solidify links to the UCD medical campus.
- Develop and teach courses in biological anthropology including: Introduction to Biological Anthropology, Human Variation, and Quantitative Research Methods.
- Proven ability to teach online classes is also desired.
