Visiting Teaching Fellowship

The Department of Architecture in the College of Architecture and Planning is recruiting for a two year Teaching Fellowship position beginning Fall 2017. The position is an at-will faculty position with reappointment on an annual basis. The position is a 50%-to-100%-time subject to the successful candidate's availability and the needs of the Department of Architecture.

The College of Architecture and Planning at CU Denver is the only college in Colorado offering comprehensive programs in the design and planning of the built environment, from undergraduate through professional master's degrees to the interdisciplinary doctorate. Nearly 700 students are enrolled in accredited architecture, landscape architecture, urban and regional planning, urban design, and historic preservation programs. The Department of Architecture offers a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Architecture and a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) professional degree. The BS in Architecture is a young and growing program with over 300 students and the M.Arch. program admits approximately 90 students per year. The concentration of architecture firms, private foundations, state and federal agencies along Colorado's Front Range affords a wealth of research and learning opportunities for faculty and students alike. Job Summary:

The Teaching Fellowship position will be an integral part of the established Design Build Certificate program, Colorado Building Workshop, within the Department of Architecture at the College of Architecture and Planning. Teaching responsibilities will include studios, and seminars in innovative building assemblies, construction systems, and/or material tectonics in the undergraduate and graduate programs. The faculty seek candidates experienced in the realm of architectural design through innovative building practices, specifically design build. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate expertise in innovative building material assemblies, one-to-one production, or advanced project delivery methods.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Masters of Architecture or comparable terminal degree
  • Experience teaching seminar, lecture, and studio-level courses
  • An established or developing program of research/creative work
Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience participating in or teaching design build or one to one fabrication at the undergraduate or graduate level
  • Professional registration, or working toward professional registration
  • Publications and/or evidence of accomplished creative work
  • Professional practice in the field of architecture
