Post-Doctoral Fellow - Evans Lab
A post-doctoral research position is open immediately in the Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.
The hiring laboratory is well established and studies mechanisms of inflammation in the mucosa (tissues exposed to the outside world), with a particular interest in the identification of novel mediators that promote lung defense and control inflammation. Ongoing studies are directed at understanding mechanisms of mucin and leukocyte mediated defenses and how changes in mucin production, polymer assembly, and glycosylation impact disease outcomes. Current projects focus on the roles played by the gel-forming mucins Muc5ac and Muc5b. Specific models include genetic loss- and gain-of-function in mice, protein/carbohydrate biochemistry, epithelial cell biology and molecular biology related to lung inflammation.
Successful candidate will have a PhD in Immunology, Biochemistry, Physiology or a closely related discipline. Experience with protein, carbohydrate, and cell-signaling analyses would be advantageous.
