The Department of Anesthesiology at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus seeks outstanding applicants to fill a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position (outstanding full professors will be considered) to complement our strong basic/translational neuroscience group.
The preferred candidate will have a research focus on cellular and/or molecular mechanisms of neurological disease. Areas of interest includes research programs that:
- Employ modern immunology methods to study neurologic diseases, pain and/or brain injury
- Exploit genetic, epigenetic or genomic approaches to understand neural basis of brain function and dysfunction.
Competitive applicants are expected to have a demonstrated track record of obtaining extramural funding and a strong publication record. New faculty will be expected to build an innovative, productive research program. Incoming faculty will be joining a unique department of Anesthesiology that has a strong neuroscience group focusing on developmental neurotoxicity of anesthetics, brain ischemia and neuroprotection, as well as pain research. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to collaborate with active research faculty in the Department of Anesthesiology who actively use molecular, biochemical, behavioral and electrophysiological methods to interrogate mechanisms of disease using various in vivo translational models. We seek candidates with an exceptional track record of productivity, potential for outstanding future achievements, and a wish to participate in a dynamic and growing research group.
We offer competitive start-up funding, modern laboratory space, access to core facilities both within the department (state-of-the-art mass spectrometry facility and high-end small animal imaging) and campus wide. Limited clinical duties can be arranged for MD applicants. Candidates will have the opportunity to participate in graduate and medical education. There are numerous opportunities for interaction with clinical research within the Department and the outstanding basic science/neuroscience community at UCD School of Medicine.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree.
