Applications are invited for the position of a full-time Staff Hematopathologist, Department of Clinical Pathology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (Sunnybrook) in Toronto, Canada, a fully affiliated academic Health Sciences facility of the University of Toronto at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor. Effective start date is July 1, 2017, or earlier as mutually agreed upon.
The Sunnybrook Department of Clinical Pathology and its Division of Laboratory Hematology are seeking an academic faculty member with diagnostic and research interests in Hematopathology and Laboratory Hematology. The successful candidate must be an experienced academic hematopathologist with an established track record in scholarship who will join an academic laboratory faculty with diverse diagnostic expertise, excellence in teaching and basic and/or clinical research programs. The department has a high volume of interesting and challenging cases and utilizes leading edge technologies, including bone marrow morphology, flow cytometry, molecular diagnostics and cancer cytogenetics. Minimum requirements include MD degree, certification in Hematological Pathology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or its equivalent, and eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, University of Toronto, at a rank consistent with academic qualifications and experience. Clinical work will include peripheral blood, bone marrow morphology, and flow cytometry interpretation. Salary is approximately $350,000 and aligns with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care compensation guidelines.
