Position Summary: This job is in a complex environment which offers the applicant the challenge and rewards of helping patients with a wide spectrum of brain and nervous system disorders. The position consists of performing patient assessments and electroencephalograms. Technician may be asked to train in electromyograms and evoked potentials. Position is in an ambulatory setting performing studies on both adult and pediatric populations. Will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and health care assistants in the Department of Neurology.

Faculty: Minimum Qualifications Support Staff: Minimum Requirements Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Biology, Physiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a health related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in performing electroneurodiagnostic studies (electroencephalograms) and interpretation of these tests; experience with electronic medical records; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be board eligible by the current standards as established by the American Board of Registered EEG Technologists (ABRET) and capable of taking END registry examinations within one year of employment.

Summary of Health Risks and Physical Demands (if applicable): Duties associated with this position involve: exposure to human blood, serum, tissue and other bodily fluids; materials covered under Universal Precautions; TB risk or working within 3 feet of human patients in a health care setting or have potential exposure to animal or specimens with Mycobacterium bovis; wearing a respirator (does not include paper dust mask worn for comfort); risks that have been identified by Environmental Health and Safety, such as exposure to lead, chemotherapy, formaldehyde, asbestos, etc.
