Posting Summary:
The Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning within the Curry School of Education seeks applicants for a Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program (VKRP) Research Specialist. This is a restricted position and continuation is based on performance and funding.

The Research Specialist - VKRP assists with research coordination and project support. Incumbent is responsible for developing training materials, assisting with focus groups and surveys, compiling data, and assisting with data cleaning, data management, and report creation. Duties also include serving as a liaison between participants, external stakeholders and senior research team, maintaining project timelines and deliverables, updating VKRP website, and implementing project changes designed by senior researchers as necessary.

A bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, or a related discipline is required. One year of experience performing social science research is required. Experience following data collection protocols, such as observations, interviews, focus groups, and surveys is preferred. Experience as a student may be considered. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to interact effectively with a diverse team of internal and external constituencies. Ability to create data sets from survey and focus group data and create data reports is a must. Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate good judgment is essential, as are strong organizational skills, an attention to detail, and ability to multi-task. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word), and use of content management systems is required, as is knowledge and the use of statistical research software such as SPSS, SAS, or Stata are required.
