The Associate Director will serve as the primary clinic coordinator for The Center for Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), a comprehensive college counseling center. This position includes a combination of administrative and clinical duties, and reports to the Director of Counseling, Health & Wellness. The position provides day to day direction and guidance to administrative support staff. Responsibilities will include oversight of several areas: clinical services, assessment of services, and outreach and consultation services. Responsibilities include direct clinical work (e.g., individual and group therapy, brief assessment and crisis intervention with students); supervision of professional staff, and consultation to the campus community to promote mental health. The Associate Director is an active member of CAPS' Management Team and is involved in administrative decisions, strategic planning and the implementation of goals and initiatives.
Position/Job Responsibilities
1. Coordinate CAPS clinical services, in consultation with the Director of Counseling, Health and Wellness. Oversee clinic systems, specifically, the flow of clinical service provision, and technology related to clinic systems (e.g., Titanium, webpage, Facebook or other social media outreach). Oversee the group therapy program at CAPS.

2. Assist with personnel management: provide administrative and clinical supervision of professional staff including supervision for NYS licensure and annual performance reviews; chair searches for open positions; train/orient new staff to daily operations and policies/procedures; coordinate professional development and retreats.

3. Provide direct services as part of the clinical team including assessment, time-limited counseling, group counseling, on-call and crisis services.

4. Develop, demonstrate, and promote multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion as a college priority, communicate to employees an expectation of behavior that is civil and inclusive when interacting with all staff, faculty, students and visitors and promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment.

5. Provide consultation, outreach and psychoeducational programs on collegiate mental health topics relevant to the campus community (e.g., students, faculty, staff and administrators) through presentations, training, liaison work and one-to-one contacts to help create and support a psychologically healthy campus community.

6. Oversee policy and procedures of CAPS and serve as the Privacy Officer. Assist the Director in meeting and complying with relevant Federal and State laws and accreditation standards.

7. Assist with needs assessment and evaluation of services, gather data on counseling service activities and prepare reports as required (e.g, CAPS annual report, national and accreditation surveys).

8. Stay current with respect to research and professional literature related to college mental health, graduate training standards of practice, clinical supervision, and standards of care in provision of professional mental health services. Abide by professional and ethical guidelines and comply with Federal and State law as it relates to the practice of psychology.

9. Coordinate or oversee CAPS programs provided by staff such as suicide awareness and prevention; mental health crisis response, and the graduate clinical internship program at CAPS.

10. As an active member of the Center's interdisciplinary team, participates fully in meetings, peer consultation and in-service training activities. May serve on department, division and college committees as needed.
Position/Job Qualifications
Earned doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology from an APA accredited program and internship, three to five years direct clinical experience in a college counseling center. Licensure as a psychologist in the State of New York within one year of start date; strong interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills; proven ability in college counseling; ability to cultivate an inclusive, diverse and welcoming environment; ability to treat all people equitably and with a sensitivity and awareness to cultural difference; demonstrated ability to hold others accountable for behavior that is supportive of a community that is diverse and inclusive; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues; demonstrated experience with administrative responsibilities within a counseling center; experience in providing service through committee involvement, outreach activities, and professional development opportunities; demonstrated diagnostic and clinical skills; and proven supervisory and management skills are required. Ability to handle spontaneous work demands while completing projects that require advance planning; advanced training and/or experience in clinical supervision and the broad range of diversity issues is preferred.
