The Department of History at the University of Colorado Boulder (UCB) invites applicants for a Research Associate in History and Pedagogical Design and Innovation to begin in the Fall of 2017.

The successful candidate will work with the Department Chair and the Director of Undergraduate Studies to evaluate current pedagogical practices, ascertain learning goals, and design and plan for the implementation and assessment of curricular modifications for teaching and learning effectiveness in the history classroom. In addition to working closely with departmental faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate majors and minors to identify and redesign learning goals and pedagogical practices, the position will also teach one course in the spring semester.

The one-year position will be based at the CU Boulder Campus and will begin in August 2017. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible appointment and carries a stipend of $51,000. The position is eligible for renewal for a second-year contingent on satisfactory performance, available funds, and the needs of the program.

Qualifications

The position is open to candidates who have earned a PhD in History by August 2017 (open to any field) with a special interest or specific additional training in pedagogy, and teaching and learning assessment and design. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to teaching and learning through prior participation in workshops, programs, and/or publication record in this field. The ideal candidate should also have the ability to work collaboratively, and should have strong skills in communication, presentation and interpersonal interactions.
