San José State University , located in the heart of Silicon Valley, is seeking nominations for the position of Director of Athletics. The Director of Athletics will be responsible for the administration of all aspects of the athletics program and will provide strategic leadership and direction for a program that places a priority on academic achievement and athletic excellence. The University is searching for a dynamic leader who possesses demonstrated leadership capabilities that will build upon the rich tradition of San José State athletics, maintaining the highest level of integrity and providing visionary leadership for new levels of athletic and academic success. The successful candidate will serve as a member of the President's Cabinet and will report to the President of the University.

SJSU participates in the NCAA Division I-FBS Mountain West Conference, supporting seven men’s and 13 women’s teams. With more than 460 student athletes competing throughout the year, SJSU has one of the largest athletics programs in the CSU.

The Director is responsible for implementing the goals and policies of the Intercollegiate Athletics Program established by the University President. The Director is expected to interact effectively with the academic community as well as the community at large. The Director plans, organizes and directs the activities of the coaching and senior administrative staff and oversees the operations and management of athletic facilities. The Director ensures a commitment to academic progress, compliance with NCAA rules and regulations, and equity and diversity in all athletics programs. In addition, the Director provides leadership for the Department of Athletics within established financial plans and budgets in order to ensure the appropriate use of financial resources; works closely with the Division of University Advancement to develop and implement a strong and effective marketing and promotions program; collaborates on the multitude of fundraising activities necessary to supplement available financial resources; and participates in as many public relations activities as is practical in order to promote the University and its athletics program.
