The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Student Accounts is responsible for overall leadership and management of Undergraduate Student Accounts and the Student Account Specialist team within One Stop | Undergraduate Enrollment Service Center. This position is responsible for the daily operations, serving the customers with excellence; coordinating Study Abroad billing and procedures; collecting all undergraduate tuition, room, board and fee revenue; gathering and analyzes internal data to manage the A/R and consistently administers university policies and procedures. The Assistant Director also will also develop strategies to utilize technology and other creative resources to improve student experience and improve overall service quality; and will establish and maintain a strategic plan for implementing financial literacy and financial aid systems to educate and inform students and their families.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

Required Experience

    3-5 years in a related field in management. Financial aid, student accounts or registrar experience in a university setting preferred.

Primary Duties/Essential Functions

Student Account Leadership

    Manages the student account team to help students and parents determine the affordability of APU. Monitors the accounts receivable each payment period. Supervises the accounts receivable process including registration billing, charging, adjustments to charges, and refunds. Responsible for collecting all undergraduate revenue. Evaluates all procedures and processes and provides recommendations for using technology and other creative resources to improve quality of One Stop customer service outcomes and institutional efficiencies, and overall accuracy. Establish and maintain a strategic plan for implementing financial literacy and financial aid systems to educate and inform students and their families. Develops daily operational guidelines, procedures and timeline for student account and implements ideas, solutions and improvements. Establish a training program for Student Account Specialist and Enrollment Management staff that are cross-trained to assist and support the student accounts team.

Student Account Specialist Duties

    Counsels potential new students and parents and delivers excellent customer service from the point of acceptance into the University concerning any financial aid or loan questions. Assists students in processing registration, withdrawal, check requests, financial aid applications, employment possibilities and consequences of non-payment to their student account. Manages the CASHNet online operation for assigned students, which consists of counseling parents and students for usage, follow-up on rejected items and manual payments for exceptions. Mediates follow-up between students and financial aid/loan officers so that these encounters bring forth win-win outcomes. Approves or denies payment plan applications, policy exceptions, transcript requests, graduation ceremony participation, diploma release, and other student requests.
