Clark University seeks a professional to fill the role of Director of Employer Relations and LEEP Center Advisor. This position will contribute to University strategic initiatives related to the development and sustaining of organizational partnerships that support student launch, Clark’s networked communities’ initiative, and other undergraduate launch efforts as appropriate. The person in this position will lead the University’s efforts in engaging organizations to develop a range of opportunities for Clark students to gain experience and employment. With a primary focus on developing jobs, internships, and other opportunities at national/international level with prestigious, and value-driven organizations, the Director of Employer Relations will support major and ongoing University initiatives related to engaging alumni and employers in student professional development. As a LEEP Center Advisor, the Director of Employer Relations will work in support of University goals to guide students in the development of their personal and professional goals to ensure appropriate readiness for post-baccalaureate opportunities. They will engage in holistic advising, drawing from: academic advising, career counseling, and student development theories; Clark University academic requirements; Clark University resources; and national best practices. Responsibilities of this position include; collaborating closely with staff in the LEEP Center and other career focused offices across campus to ensure student post-graduate success, convening and leading a University-wide committee of career-focused staff, including representatives from the LEEP Center, Alumni Relations, the School of Management, the Department of International Development, Community and Environment and the School for Professional Studies to achieve campus-wide coordination with respect to employer relationships. This position will manage and oversee a system for shared data in support of coordinated engagement, and supervise the Assistant Director of Career Services for Employer Relations in the LEEP Center. In addition this person will independently provide advising that helps students identify, align, and compete for co-curricular opportunities that complement their academic and professional goals, interest, and passions. Given that this person has University-wide coordinating function, their supervision will include input from a newly created Institutional Employer Relations Steering Committee. The committee will include the Dean of the College, and representatives from Alumni Affairs, the School of Management, the Department of international Development, Community and Environment, and the School of Professional Studies. Frequent daytime travel during normal business hours is expected, and some overnight travel, evening and weekend work may be necessary. Other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will preferably hold a Master’s degree, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in career services, university recruiting, college relations, talent acquisition and management, or some related field. The candidate must demonstrate success in building employer relations, particularly in corporate environments, strategic thinking, as well as the ability to drive the execution of strategic decisions. Supervisory experience is preferred, with knowledge and understanding of technologies relevant to employer relations; experience with database-related software and student information systems. Additionally, the candidate will be able to work collaboratively with other staff as well as members of the Clark community, and with students. The candidate will be familiar with academic advising, career counseling, and student development theories as well will be able to manage confidential information and sensitive situations.
