The Research Analyst holds a key role supporting college-wide collection and management of institutional data and will join an organization that values the use of data to make decisions. Responsibilities include developing, utilizing, and managing key databases to support the College’s operations as well as reporting and evaluation functions. Also assists with data extractions, data collection, analysis and reporting related to institutional effectiveness, responds to ad hoc research requests, develops and analyzes surveys, assists in the preparation of standard government and accreditation reports (IPEDS, NEASC, etc.), and contributes to the further development and maintenance of the Becker Fact Book, Student Success Report, Graduate Outcomes Report, and IR&A web site. Experience automating reports using SQL, MySQL, VBA, and Tableau preferred.
Essential functions include producing data to support College-wide compliance with evolving external reporting mandates and public disclosure including requests from external entities including IPEDS, US News and World Report, Princeton Review, financial institutions, and accreditation agencies; managing the processes around the design and implementation of ad-hoc and automated reports using SPSS, Excel, and SQL related programming languages that support business intelligence in a variety of functions including admissions, enrollment, and instructional and student survey data; summarizing results of data analysis through policy memos, published reports, and written/oral presentations; maintaining the recurring calendar of data preparation and warehousing for trend analysis; coordinating the collection of the Common Data Set and other external surveys from various College departments; assisting with survey development, implementation, and analysis; maintaining and analyzing national student clearinghouse data on prospective students and graduates; conducting research and analyses to support student learning though local and national tools (CIRP, CAAP, NSSE); using statistical techniques to forecast student behavior around retention, enrollment, and academic success; and, using data visualization tools (Tableau).
A Master’s degree; knowledge of the higher-education industry; experience automating reports (e.g., macros, SQL, etc.); experience using querying tools (Informer, Datatel); proficiency with SPSS and with Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point) required. 2 to 3 years related quantitative research experience; experience extracting and evaluating large datasets; previous course work in statistics and research methods; experience in the collection and compilation of data; good interpersonal abilities to work with individuals at various levels of the college (faculty, staff, and administrators); experience submitting data to IPEDS; highest level of attention to detail and respect for data integrity; excellent written and verbal communication skills; familiarity with survey methodology and software (Qualtrics); and, experience working in a fast paced environment desired.
