    The Climate Dynamics research group in the Department of Earth System Science, University of California Irvine, seeks to hire a full time (100%) Assistant Researcher. The individual will develop both collaborative and independent research, will lead the climate modeling effort in the group, including running the different climate models as well as adapting them to different applications, and writing diagnostic scripts to analyze and interpret the results, writing scientific papers on the results and presenting the results at national and international scientific meetings as well as in public lectures to a broad audience. A PhD in a relevant field (e.g., atmospheric science, oceanography) is required, along with evidence of research accomplishments, particularly expertise in climate modeling and experience in handling large data sets is required. Experience in writing research proposals is required. Experience in advising researchers and graduate/undergraduate students is required. Familiarity with more than one state-of-the-art global climate model is required as well as a network of contacts at different modeling centers.
