The Milken Institute School of Public Health (SPH) at the George Washington University invites applications for the position of Senior Associate Dean for Academic, Student and Faculty Affairs.

The distinguished candidate who fills this position will provide leadership and vision for the school's educational mission as the SPH continues to solidify its reputation for excellence in innovative and integrative public health curricula.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The Senior Associate Dean provides leadership, management and coordination to ensure excellence in all areas of undergraduate education, graduate education, and doctoral training. It provides leadership for promoting excellence in student services and faculty affairs. Major areas of responsibility for the Senior Associate Dean include academic programs and curriculum, admissions, accreditation of the multiple programs within the school, student support and student performance, and faculty affairs and program development. The Senior Associate Dean guides the development and implementation of academic technologies and instructional innovations. The responsibilities of the Senior Associate Dean are anticipated to take 50-100% effort.

The Senior Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the School and serves on the School's Leadership Group. The Senior Associate Dean will be expected to work closely with: the Curriculum Committee; the Admissions Committee; Public Health Undergraduate Program Director, fellow Deans; Department Chairs; the office of the Provost; and various Associate Deans at other schools and colleges of the University who serve similar functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have an earned relevant doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, ScD, DrPH or MD) and must have experience commensurate with appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure or be tenure eligible in one of the School's six departments. Additional requirements for this position include a documented commitment to excellence in public health education, a clear understanding of issues related to student wellness, student and faculty diversity and inclusion, and a willingness to lead innovative educational programs and foster development of new teaching initiatives. The successful candidate must have strong leadership and administrative skills and the ability to work well within multidisciplinary teams.
