College of Liberal Arts and Sciences: Visiting Assistant Professor - Department of American Indian
The American Indian Studies Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (http://www.ais.illinois.edu) invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2017-2018 academic year.
The Visiting Assistant Professor will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in American Indian and Indigenous studies. The faculty member will be required to teach two courses per semester, with a total of 4 courses for the academic year. Resources for professional development will be available for the faculty member, including funding for research and travel expenses. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the intellectual community of the AIS Program and provide service to the Program and the University. The faculty member will also be expected to maintain a robust research agenda and be engaged in publishing and other scholarly activities.
Candidates must have experience teaching at the college level and a Ph.D. or equivalent degree at the time of employment. The target start date is August 16, 2017.The appointment is for one year, but with the possibility of renewal. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with American Indian or other indigenous communities.
