Director, International Student and Outreach Services
The Office of International Services at the University of Illinois at Chicago seeks applications for the Director, International Student and Outreach Services. This position oversees the advising function for international students to ensure the successful integration into the campus and local community, as well as maintaining legal status in the U.S. This activity also involves the oversight of processing of visa and immigration applications, as well as training and programming efforts for the international population as well as the colleges and departments that enroll them. Work with campus and community partners to increase cultural integration. Qualifications: Master’s degree required. Minimum of 7 years of experience as an international advisor with at least 5 years of experience supervising staff. Strong working knowledge of immigration laws, regulations and procedures related to both F-1 and J-1 nonimmigrant visa categories. Experience developing orientation and other programming for international student populations. Strong analytical skills, the ability to comprehend and synthesize various regulations, and the ability to resolve complex immigration problems. Ability to meet the U.S. Department of State’s regulatory requirements to be an Alternate Responsible Officer. Ability to work with faculty and staff to plan, develop, and implement programs and services related to International Students. Ability to evaluate needs, present recommendations, and make oral and written presentations. Salary commensurate with experience.
