JOB PURPOSE:

The Senior Internal IT Auditor conducts complex and in-depth IT audits to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of systems, processes, and controls at all Stanford entities (includes the seven schools and auxiliaries, Central IT, Hospitals, SLAC and SMC), in accordance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, under the supervision of an audit manager.

Stanford's IT audits are as varied as the technology. We have conducted audits on social media, mobile devices, cloud, and IT processes related to the many regulations that govern higher Ed.

CORE DUTIES*:
  • Conduct complex and in-depth IT audits planned for all Stanford entities in accordance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
  • Conduct investigations of suspected irregular conduct in conjunction with other university resources.
  • Perform risk assessments to prepare and execute audit plans and detailed audit programs.
  • Test and evaluate general controls in a complex networked/web-based environment.
  • Test and evaluate application controls on a wide range of application software including Oracle Financials, PeopleSoft, EPIC and other distributed systems.
  • Evaluate controls in systems under development and provide advice on internal controls.
  • Prepare and review work paper documentation to ensure it supports conclusions and results based on appropriate analyses and evaluations.
  • Communicate the results of audit projects via written reports and oral presentation to Senior IT management.
  • Conduct periodic follow-up reviews to assess and report on progress or completion of management's corrective actions in response to internal audit observations.
  • Develop and maintain productive customer and staff relationships.
  • Provide guidance to staff auditors.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and four years relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Have advanced knowledge of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of IT audit concepts.
  • Ability to identify IT risks and controls in a rapidly changing IT environment.
  • Capable of analysis and evaluation on a range of factors.
  • Be familiar with or have a working knowledge of various regulations affecting IT - such as HIPAA; FERPA; PCI-DSS etc.
  • Demonstrates excellent judgment and sound decision making to obtain viable solutions.
  • Independent and requires little supervision on all but unique matters.
  • May recommend changes in policy or practice based on new data or situations. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team or independently as an individual contributor. Certifications and Licenses:
  • Preferred: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA); Certified Information System Security Personnel (CISSP); Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
  • Frequently perform desk based computer tasks, seated work and use light/ fine grasping.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, and write by hand, lift, carry, push pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
