I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The GW School of Nursing Center for Health Policy and Media Engagement is dedicated to raising the knowledge and skills of nurses, faculty members, students and others to engage actively in the development and advocacy of health policy, while utilizing many forms of print, audio and social media to influence policy change for the health of the public. The Center, in addition to supporting the policy, research and media engagement activities of the Center, is engaged in developing and implementing an academic program - a 15 credit online graduate certificate in health policy and media engagement - for nurses and other health professionals. The Center is seeking a high functioning, skilled Program Coordinator to coordinate the academic aspects of the online certificate program and support the development of research proposals, policy analyses and budget management aspects of the Center, as well as support the incorporation of internal and external contributors to the advancement of the Center's health policy and media engagement activities. This individual will provide academic course management, some project management, support the development and submission of new funding proposals, prepare reports, track and monitor financial summaries, provide data management, support some media enhancement functions, and coordinate certain media events and periodic meetings of the Center's National Advisory Council. Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

*This is a limited term appointment; approximate duration is 17 months with potential for extension.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of training and experience, is necessary plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree.

Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in policy, communications, project administration or management, nursing or health related equivalent is preferred.
• Proficiency with computer technology, Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and with software applications such as Banner, Cayuse and Blackboard.
•Experience with grants management, budget development and management, proposal writing, event planning and coordination are preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, accuracy and attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are required.
• Proficiency with appropriate use of a wide variety of social media is desirable. Skills in editing auditory presentations are a plus.
• Self-motivated, able to meet deadlines and prioritize work, able to work independently, and as a part of a team in a complex environment, and take initiative within agreed parameters.
