DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Duties: Responsible for working closely with faculty directors and the technical director in the oversight and execution of the Penn Medicine Biobank (PMBB) and related scientific activities. Key areas of responsibility include strategic and operational planning for the PMBB and the biorepository, management of interactions with Penn Data Store and other sources of phenotype data, supervision of the PMBB bioinformaticians, management the storage and access of genotype and other omics data, interaction with a wide range of Penn faculty to promote utilization of the PMBB resource, facilitation and leadership in writing of grants, funding proposals, and manuscripts, leading interactions with biopharma regarding collaboration and funding activities, attending and presenting at scientific meetings. Related activities include helping to facilitate deep phenotyping and other clinical trials that leverage the PMBB and bridge between the preclinical research activities and clinical research activities. This may include supervision of clinical and laboratory research staff, execution of pre-clinical and clinical protocols, preparation of progress reports, and provision of regulatory guidance and support. The individual will serve as a key scientific liaison between the PMBB and Penn laboratory and clinical investigators to promote scientific research related to the PMBB.
Qualifications: Highly advanced professional discipline. Ph. D. or equivalent doctoral degree and 5 years to 7 years of experience required. PhD in Biomedical-related study preferred, Extensive experience in human bio-repository procedures required.
