ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS
Duties: The Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions will be an experienced admissions professional responsible for developing, implementing, and managing office-wide initiatives in support of the work of Penn Admissions. The Assistant/Associate Director will also be charged with recruiting, evaluating, selecting, and yielding freshman and transfer candidates to Penn's four undergraduate schools: the College of Arts and Sciences, Penn Engineering, Penn Nursing and The Wharton School. The Assistant/Associate Director will be responsible for the management of a geographic territory, including building relationships with school educators and administrators and engaging with students and families to attract appropriate applicants from the region. The Assistant/Associate Director will organize and implement recruitment programs and will serve as a featured public speaker in a range of forums with prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and Penn alumni. The Assistant/Associate Director will have the responsibility to work as part of a team to achieve the goals of the University of Pennsylvania in enrolling highly-qualified, diverse and intellectually-passionate students.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree is required, a master's degree is preferred. Assistant Director: 1 to 3 years of direct or related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate Director: 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in admissions, higher education, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated project management skills and the ability to prioritize projects in a high-volume and timeline-driven process. Familiarity with highly-selective college admissions, recruitment, and the evaluation and selection of college applicants in a highly-selective environment are strongly preferred. Familiarity with the University of Pennsylvania undergraduate experience is preferred. Strong communication, public speaking and interpersonal skills are required. The job requires a valid driver's license and the ability to work evenings and weekends.
