The Department of Surgery - Cardiothoracic Pediatrics has an opening for Advanced Practice Provider IIIs (PA or APRN). The Joint Pediatric Heart Care Program (JPHCP) Advanced Practice Provider III will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Jim Quintessenza and in collaboration with faculty of the JPHCP as well as in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. Duties will include first assisting in the operating room, management of patients in an outpatient pre-operative/post-operative clinic, hospital rounds, patient and staff education and attendance at JPHCP surgical conference.

An ideal candidate will have previous experience with pediatric cardiac and congenital cardiac patient populations and experience as an operating room first assist.

The APP III has a strong foundation in evidenced-based practice and education and has a responsibility for ensuring an environment of safe quality care. The APP III demonstrates an advanced level of medical knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgement, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.

Cincinnati Children's Heart Institute and Kentucky Children's Hospital (KCH) have joined forces to provide advanced pediatric heart care close to home for patients in Kentucky. The collaboration combines the strength of UK HealthCare's advanced pediatric and adult congenital heart care with Cincinnati Children's nationally ranked experts in pediatric cardiac care and surgery.

For Nurse Practitioner applicants, active Kentucky Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license.

For Physician Assistant applicants, current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification and active Kentucky Physician Assistant (PA) license.
